About the position

The Manager of Email Marketing at CNN is responsible for leading the email marketing strategy aimed at enhancing engagement, retention, and growth for CNN's digital subscription product. This role involves managing campaign operations, optimizing automation, refining audience segmentation, and analyzing performance metrics to improve the customer journey. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in email marketing operations and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end execution of email marketing campaigns, including building, testing, scheduling, and deploying emails across various customer segments.
  • Oversee and optimize automated email workflows for onboarding, retention, win-back, and other lifecycle stages.
  • Collaborate with data and marketing teams to define and implement audience segmentation strategies based on behavior, demographics, and engagement metrics.
  • Design and implement A/B tests for subject lines, content, timing, and targeting strategies to improve email performance metrics.
  • Work alongside creative, design, and product teams to ensure email campaigns align with overall business goals and enhance customer experience.
  • Monitor email deliverability rates and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and data privacy laws.
  • Analyze campaign performance metrics and generate comprehensive reports for key stakeholders, providing data-driven recommendations for strategic improvements.
  • Oversee email marketing platforms, ensuring proper integration with CRM systems and optimizing tool usage for maximum effectiveness.
  • Maintain a comprehensive email marketing calendar to ensure timely and relevant communications that align with broader marketing and promotional initiatives.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, trends, and new technologies in email marketing.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in email marketing operations or lifecycle marketing, preferably within a subscription-based business or high-growth tech environment.
  • Hands-on experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Iterable) and a strong understanding of A/B testing and audience segmentation techniques.
  • Proven track record in email performance tracking and optimization, with proficiency in data analysis tools to drive insights and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple email campaigns simultaneously while meeting deadlines and optimizing for performance.
  • Strong familiarity with email compliance regulations (e.g., CAN-SPAM, GDPR) and best practices for email list management and deliverability.
