About the position

The Manager of Engineering - Positive Displacement Chillers at Daikin Applied is responsible for leading a team of engineers in the development of innovative chiller products. This role emphasizes people-centered leadership, team building, and technical expertise in a fast-paced environment. The manager will focus on team development, strategic planning, and aligning product development with market needs while ensuring engineering best practices are followed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day activities of approximately 8 engineers developing positive displacement chiller products.
• Build and lead a world-class engineering team with a focus on people development and growth.
• Proactively recruit top talent in the industry.
• Become a technical leader in positive displacement chillers and understand technical challenges firsthand.
• Make daily tactical decisions to ensure Daikin products are best-in-class.
• Align product development plans with technical and market requirements.
• Emphasize rapid problem-solving and speed to market.
• Create and implement a long-term strategy for the engineering team.
• Mentor team members focusing on long-term career and technical growth.
• Ensure staffing plans and technical skillsets align with business objectives.
• Promote continuous improvement of engineering and product development methods.
• Ensure process alignment with Daikin Applied's phase-gate product development cycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience leading engineering teams.
• Strong background in engineering best practices such as DFMEA, DFM, and Lean.
• Experience with career development plans.
