About the position

The Manager of Enterprise Risk at Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) is responsible for leading the organization's enterprise risk management (ERM) framework. This role involves strategic and tactical leadership in risk governance, monitoring, measurement, and strategy, ensuring alignment with the District's risk appetite. The incumbent will collaborate with functional leaders and the executive team to enhance the ERM program and manage various sources of risk, including insurance, market, operational, and strategic risks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the overall Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program.
  • Support and enhance ERM structure and governance.
  • Coordinate the development and oversight of risks associated with programs and projects.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts for annual risk reviews.
  • Act as an internal advisor on risk management matters.
  • Assist business units in understanding ERM regulatory responsibilities.
  • Build relationships with industry peers to evaluate risk.
  • Develop analytical reports and presentations for the Board and management.
  • Ensure compliance with state laws and internal policies.
  • Evaluate audit results and suggest risk limitations to management.
  • Facilitate risk management meetings to address identified risks and gaps.
  • Oversee Insurance and Risk Administration duties.
  • Provide oversight and development for direct reports.
  • Prepare and analyze variances for the department's annual budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, accounting, finance, business, or related field.
  • Eight years of professional level experience in risk management, accounting, economics, finance, engineering, or internal audit.
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves
