About the position

The Manager of Environment of Care and Emergency Management is responsible for overseeing the safety and environmental health programs within the healthcare facilities. This role involves developing and implementing policies and procedures that comply with various regulations, ensuring the safety of staff, patients, and visitors, and promoting best practices in environmental care and emergency management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for the Environment of Care (EC), Life Safety (LS), and Emergency Management (EM) programs at respective facilities.
  • Promote the BSWH EC and EM program through training and education.
  • Identify, assess, and recommend measures to minimize environmental, health, and safety risks.
  • Conduct bi-monthly Environment of Care meetings to improve hospital safety.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding environmental health and safety.
  • Examine Risk Management and Occurrence data to reduce accidents and incidents.
  • Participate in construction planning meetings and ensure compliance with safety measures.
  • Write, modify, and monitor facility emergency operations plans.
  • Provide support and counsel on safety and health issues to clinics and other facilities.
  • Coordinate hazardous material activities and provide emergency response as needed.
  • Perform safety assessments to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring tasks to comply with TCEQ and OSHA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Management, or Emergency Management.
  • 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of The Joint Commission EC, LS, and EM standards, NFPA, OSHA, Texas DSHS, and CMS regulations.
  • Effective communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
  • Ability to collaborate and achieve high-quality results.
  • Data-based and critical thinking skills for problem-solving.
  • Fundamental knowledge of emergency management concepts in healthcare.
  • Project management skills and ability to drive continuous process improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
