About the position

The Manager of Environmental Compliance Programs at Oklahoma State University is responsible for overseeing the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety policies. This role involves managing environmental compliance activities, conducting audits, training staff, and liaising with regulatory agencies. The position requires a strong understanding of environmental regulations and the ability to develop and implement compliance strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee activities related to environmental regulations including ODEQ and EPA compliance.
  • Monitor organizational performance and develop policy and compliance strategies.
  • Maintain necessary environmental permits and perform facility audits.
  • Train managers and employees on compliance procedures and best practices.
  • Direct environmental programs such as air compliance and hazardous waste disposal.
  • Provide management oversight for the Hazardous Waste Disposal section.
  • Liaise with federal, state, and local agencies on environmental reporting and audits.
  • Prepare annual environmental reports including Tier II and Air Emissions.
  • Conduct internal reviews or audits to ensure compliance procedures are followed.
  • Develop and implement environmental compliance plans for air quality and pollution prevention.
  • Keep informed about industry trends and assess the impact of changes on organizational processes.
  • Provide regulatory guidance to facility management and other relevant departments.
  • Review or change policies to comply with changes to environmental standards or regulations.
  • Assist leadership during facility restructuring projects to ensure environmental permits are obtained before modifications.
  • Develop EHS audit program requirements and facilitate EHS audits for compliance certification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience with administering and managing environmental compliance programs.
  • Valid driver's license for operating OSU vehicles.
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED (provided within six months of employment).
  • 24-hour HAZWOPER certification (provided within six months of employment).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop practical solutions.
  • Expert knowledge of ODEQ and EPA regulations.
  • Strong report writing skills and proficiency in MS Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over five years of experience with administering and managing environmental compliance programs.
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Practitioner (CHMP).

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 based on experience and qualifications.
  • Full-time position with a Monday to Friday work schedule from 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional overtime.
