About the position

The Manager of Environmental Sustainability and Safety Compliance is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive environmental health and safety (EHS) and sustainability compliance programs at the University. This role involves managing compliance-related programs while promoting sustainability initiatives across the campus, ensuring adherence to environmental regulations, and enhancing campus sustainability efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain comprehensive EHS and sustainability compliance programs.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing campus sustainability initiatives in collaboration with the Laudato Si' Implementation Committee.
  • Develop and maintain systems to monitor and communicate sustainability and compliance metrics.
  • Expand and enhance campus recycling efforts and strengthen partnerships for environmental awareness.
  • Prepare reports outlining campus environmental program successes and facilitate grant proposals.
  • Conduct risk management assessments and safety educational programs to promote safety in compliance with regulations.
  • Perform compliance inspections and audits, updating policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Maintain all EHS documentation and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Respond to EHS-related issues and ensure proper documentation of waste streams.
  • Develop and manage shop policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or Business from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in a regulated industry with project management experience.
  • Willingness to gain knowledge of federal and state regulations and codes.
  • Professional Certifications in Engineering, Risk Management, or Sustainability preferred.
  • Experience in assessment, policy development, and analysis with a regulatory focus in EHS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Experience with AASHE sustainability tracking tool (STARS) or similar software.
