About the position

The Manager of Event Parking at UBS Arena in Elmont, NY, is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of event parking. Reporting directly to the Director of Parking & Transportation, this position requires a proactive approach to ensure operational excellence and high-quality service. The manager will develop and implement efficient procedures with a focus on continual improvement, ensuring that all parking operations run smoothly during events. This role is not only about managing the logistics of parking but also about leading a team of part-time parking supervisors, ambassadors, and porters, providing them with the necessary training and support to excel in their roles. In addition to managing staff, the Manager of Event Parking will perform minor maintenance on Parking Access and Revenue Control Systems (PARCS), including troubleshooting ticket jams and repairing barrier gates. The manager will also be responsible for training designated staff on the remote management of these systems and ensuring that all parking devices are operational. A key part of the role involves collaborating with the Operations Department to meet client specifications for events while adhering to fire codes and safety regulations. Effective communication is crucial in this position, as the manager will prepare and distribute detailed Event Data Sheets, diagrams, and staffing requirements for each event. The ability to problem-solve and make quick decisions is essential, especially during high-pressure situations. The manager will also evaluate staffing levels based on event budgets and assist the Director in creating new parking products and revenue streams while working towards sustainability goals. This role requires strategic planning, traffic management, and budgeting skills, as well as the ability to analyze guest surveys to enhance operational performance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operational excellence and high-quality service by developing and implementing efficient procedures with emphasis on continual improvement.
  • Hire, develop, train, and support a team of in-house part-time parking supervisors, ambassadors, and porters.
  • Perform minor maintenance of Parking (PARCS) devices, including ticket jams in pay stations and repairing barrier gates.
  • Train designated staff on remote management of Parking (PARCS) systems.
  • Inspect all parking systems/devices to ensure they are operational.
  • Work with the Operations Department to ensure all events are set up to the client's specifications and that all fire codes and safety regulations are being followed.
  • Coordinate and provide clear, concise, and timely communication with building staff of all requirements necessary for events by preparing and distributing detailed Event Data Sheets, diagrams, and event staffing requirements for each assigned event.
  • Problem-solve, make quick decisions, and delegate responsibility while remaining professional and pleasant during stressful situations.
  • Recommend and evaluate required event staffing levels based on event budgets.
  • Responsible for the hiring, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, scheduling, training, and development of part-time parking staff.
  • Assist the Director with creating new parking products, additional revenue streams, and reducing costs of the parking and transportation operation.
  • Assist the Director with working towards sustainability goals, including revenue, PARCS system, and operational audits.
  • Assist with strategic planning, traffic management planning, and budgeting.
  • Review/analyze guest surveys and other performance measures to maximize operational performance.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in parking/transportation management, event management preferred.
  • Knowledge of parking revenue management systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Valid driver license required.
