About the position

The Manager of Facility Systems is responsible for overseeing the support functions related to building systems, maintenance, and budget control for the SEAS Science and Engineering Complex. This role involves ensuring compliance with various standards, managing contractors, and optimizing the performance of mechanical and life safety systems to support research and sustainability goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with support functions related to building systems, maintenance, and facility budget control.
  • Supervise and manage direct reports responsible for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and other systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local, and University standards.
  • Supervise outside maintenance contractors for daily maintenance and repairs.
  • Coordinate trades and service providers for mechanical and preventative maintenance and customer requests.
  • Manage and monitor related projects and the Work Request System.
  • Analyze data to develop preventative maintenance programs and maximize efficiencies.
  • Work with sustainability staff to implement best practices and participate in greenhouse gas and energy reduction efforts.
  • Assist with long-term planning for mechanical and structural systems.
  • Manage Environmental Health and Safety issues, including confined space inventory and spill containment.
  • Schedule and oversee overtime projects performed by in-house trades and contracted personnel.
  • Supervise procurement of services, parts, and equipment for the Facilities group.
  • Assist in administration and enhancements of the SEAS Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) system.
  • Review plans and submittals for new and renovated building systems.
  • Train existing and new trades staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum of seven years of experience in facility management with a focus on building control systems and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of computer tools including MS Office and work order systems.
  • Supervisory experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • CFM certificate and/or BS/BA degree.
  • Strong computer and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
