About the position

At Eastern Air Express, the Manager of Flight Following plays a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day flight planning and logistics of the airline. This full-time position reports directly to the Director of Operations and collaborates closely with various key personnel, including the Chief Pilot, the Manager of Inflight, the Director of Maintenance, the Manager on Duty (MOD), and the Manager of Crew Scheduling. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all flight operations are conducted in a professional manner, adhering to applicable FAA regulations and the company's operational guidelines. The Manager of Flight Following must possess a thorough understanding of all FAR Part 121 aircraft flight planning and flight following requirements. This role requires excellent communication skills, as the manager will need to facilitate effective communication between the flight following team and other departments, particularly regarding scheduled and non-scheduled aircraft maintenance. The manager will also be tasked with generating reports and maintaining accurate records for the flight following department, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. In addition to overseeing the flight following operations, the Manager will implement policies and procedures to enhance safety and efficiency. This includes managing the training and qualifications of all aircraft flight followers, ensuring they remain current in their roles. The position demands sound judgment and the ability to make time-sensitive logistical decisions that prioritize the safety of flights, security, personnel, and cost management. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day flight planning and logistics of the airline relating to aircraft, security, personnel, and costs.
  • Ensure that flight operations are conducted in accordance with applicable FAA regulations, the Company's GOM, SOCM, and OpSpecs.
  • Make time-dependent logistical decisions relating to the safety of flight, security, personnel, and costs.
  • Manage aircraft flight followers to ensure compliance with regulations and policies at all times.
  • Facilitate communication between flight following team and other departments, especially regarding aircraft maintenance.
  • Generate reports and maintain accurate records for the flight following department.
  • Coordinate recurrent training for aircraft flight followers and ensure new hires are properly trained and qualified.
  • Work with outside vendors to ensure systems remain reliable and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • FAA Aircraft Dispatchers license is preferred.
  • Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • 3-5 years of previous experience working in an aircraft dispatch or flight following environment for a Part 121 or Part 135 air carrier; international experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of previous supervisory and/or leadership experience is required.
  • 3-5 years of customer service experience, preferably in an airline or travel-related environment.
  • Reliable and self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Able to multitask efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • PC proficient in Microsoft Office products and general internet applications.
  • Ability to work any shift including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Pass a two (2) year drug and alcohol background check, pre-employment drug test, and criminal history records check (CHRC).
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
