About the position

The Manager of Information Security will oversee all aspects of information security for a global legal client, ensuring compliance, governance, and risk management while leading a medium-sized security team. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in cybersecurity and network infrastructure, along with strong managerial skills to develop security programs and manage budgets effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and coordinating all aspects of Information Security including governance, compliance, risk, and auditing.
  • Developing and maintaining an understanding of the firm's business requirements and workflow to implement a secure environment.
  • Managing a medium-sized security team in the US and collaborating with overseas security teams.
  • Offering guidance, mentoring, and education while ensuring appropriate monitoring and controls are in place.
  • Developing, assessing, and managing information security procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Staying current with emerging security risks and recommending measures for compliance with laws and standards.
  • Staying updated on information security technologies to recommend and implement effective policies and systems.
  • Developing security education programs and conducting training for security awareness.
  • Managing the workflow and tasks performed by security administrators and engineers on the team.
  • Developing and managing the security budget and advising on security-related expenditures.
  • Ensuring that the security environment is properly documented and kept up-to-date.
  • Managing security vendors and managed service offerings.
  • Preparing and advising on security-related communications both internal and external to the firm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an IT-related field (required).
  • 7+ years in IT (required).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years working in a hands-on Manager role related to information security & policy (required).
  • Extensive knowledge of Information Security/Risk Management best practices relevant to a professional services environment (required).
  • Prior experience creating and managing security programs and procedures in a global environment (required).
  • Exceptional hands-on skills in troubleshooting, investigating, and problem-solving security-related risks (required).
  • Expert knowledge in critical security protocols, domains, encryption, loss prevention, applications, mobility, remote access, etc. (required).
  • Extensive practical knowledge in information governance such as records management, compliance & data security and privacy (required).
  • A collaborative work style with experience interfacing with various global teams (required).
  • Team-oriented leader with a collaborative nature, encouraging growth and development of staff (required).
  • Able to work flexible hours and manage team schedules effectively to ensure global coverage (required).
