About the position

Seneca Holdings, the business arm of the Seneca Nation, is seeking a talented Manager of Internal Communications (IC) with extensive experience in employee communications. This role is crucial for the development, implementation, and management of the organization's internal communications activities that inform and engage employees. The Manager of IC will report to the Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications and will be responsible for delivering dynamic written and visual communications for various internal audiences and channels that support Seneca Holdings' mission, values, strategy, and culture. The position also involves managing corporate and employee engagement events, ensuring that all communications align with the company's objectives and resonate with the workforce. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications to develop and execute strategies for internal communication programs that inform, align, and engage employees, including those at client site-based locations. As a subject matter expert on internal communications best practices, the Manager of IC will stay updated on trends and explore innovative ways to enhance outreach, particularly for a remote workforce. This role requires creativity in storytelling, utilizing various formats such as newsletters, presentations, and videos to convey key messages effectively. In addition to content creation, the Manager of IC will manage a content calendar, establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of communications, and refine deliverables for accuracy and clarity. The position also involves developing standards and processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of internal communications, measuring the impact of activities, and managing both internal and external events. Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, including team members and executives, is essential to support the company's core values and culture of diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute internal communication strategies that inform, align, and engage employees.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on internal communications best practices for a remote workforce.
  • Create and publish content such as newsletters, presentations, and videos to tell company and employee stories.
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of all written material and manage the content calendar.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure content impact and refine communications deliverables for accuracy and clarity.
  • Develop standards and processes to improve efficiencies in internal communications.
  • Measure and assess the impact of communications activities using data for future decisions.
  • Manage internal and external corporate events.
  • Manage Marketing & Communications team members and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including team members and executives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in internal communications initiatives.
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct report responsibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, or related field, or 8+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Exceptional written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven expertise as a creative writer, copy editor, and storyteller.
  • Ability to operate strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work across different audiences and experience levels.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with MS Office 365 and internal communications software preferred.
