About the position

The Manager of Inventory Control and Purchasing is responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of personnel involved in the procurement and distribution of materials, equipment, and supplies within the organization. This role involves overseeing purchasing functions, managing stockroom operations, and ensuring compliance with company policies while maintaining high ethical standards in supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the procurement function.
• Organizes, supervises, and directs the work of stockroom personnel engaged in receiving, issuing, and delivering supplies and equipment.
• Prepares instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
• Evaluates vendor quotations utilizing appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
• Designs, implements, manages, and monitors procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements.
• Recruits and maintains suppliers that provide high-quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
• Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices.
• Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
• Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications, then submits to management for approval.
• Negotiates or supervises the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Arranges for disposal of surplus materials.

Requirements

• Experience in procurement and inventory management.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience evaluating vendor quotations.
• Ability to design and implement procurement reporting systems.
• Experience in managing and supervising teams.
• Knowledge of purchasing systems and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a supervisory role within purchasing or inventory control.
• Familiarity with legal aspects of contracts and vendor agreements.
