About the position

The Manager of Marketing and Communications at the Billings Symphony is responsible for overseeing all marketing and communication efforts to enhance the organization's brand and reach. This role involves managing advertising, social media strategies, website content, public relations, and community engagement initiatives. The position aims to drive ticket sales and promote the symphony's programs while collaborating with a marketing firm for creative assets.

Responsibilities

  • Originate and oversee advertising activities to develop brand-specific ad campaigns.
  • Develop and execute annual marketing promotion plans aligned with organizational revenue goals.
  • Establish and implement social media strategies to enhance brand awareness and engagement.
  • Oversee the design, functionality, and user experience of the Billings Symphony website.
  • Organize and implement press and media strategies to build reputation and ensure effective media coverage.
  • Collaborate with a marketing firm to produce art and designs for print and digital publications.
  • Supervise production of all printed/electronic collateral including playbills and brochures.
  • Strategize and implement subscription/single-ticket campaigns to meet revenue goals.
  • Assist in establishing appropriate goals related to the annual budget and maintain marketing budgets.
  • Develop strategies to maximize customer service and satisfaction in all operations.
  • Work closely with Community Engagement and Education Departments to enhance public awareness of the symphony's work.
  • Provide administrative support including answering calls and scheduling media appearances.

Requirements

  • Proven professional experience in marketing, especially digital and social media.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Understanding of or experience with nonprofit organizations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to collaborate in a mission-driven organization.
  • Flexibility to balance multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience with data collection tools to inform marketing strategies.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours for events.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Experience with Salesforce/PatronManager or other CRM software.
  • General understanding of classical/orchestral music.
  • Experience with marketing data analytics and tools.
  • Information Technology (IT) knowledge.
  • Box Office experience.
