About the position

The Manager of Mechanical Design Engineering at LogistiQ Integration Solutions plays a crucial role in the engineering management team, providing leadership, mentoring, and coordination for a team of engineers. This position is integral to the New Product Development (NPD) process, involving CAD modeling, design definition, and support for product launches. The manager fosters collaboration, ensures the accuracy of engineering deliverables, and supports manufacturing processes, all while promoting best practices and talent development within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Leads organization in development of new products
  • Mentors and coaches team members
  • Develops, documents, and drives usage of standard work within the team
  • Promotes usage of best practices and industry norms
  • Trains and develops direct reports
  • Fosters an environment to attract, engage, develop, and retain top talent
  • Collaborates with other managers to meet LogistiQ goals
  • Models best practices in team collaboration
  • Interacts with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to execute NPD objectives
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of engineering team deliverables
  • Drives accurate and timely technical decisions with alignment from key stakeholders
  • Provides support to manufacturing on new products, including BOMs and design updates
  • Oversees the daily workflow of engineers and/or technicians
  • Supports the hiring and training of new associates
  • Conducts performance evaluations and handles employee discipline as needed.

Requirements

  • 10+ years minimum of sheet metal design experience, preferably in material handling or conveyance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Hands-on problem-solving skills in various environments
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing and engineering fundamentals
  • CAD proficiency required, with meaningful experience in SolidWorks preferred
  • Working knowledge of ERPs (SyteLine preferred) and PLM or PDM Systems
  • Basic knowledge of electrical controls, operation, and circuit design
  • 10+ years of experience in tolerancing, GD&T, and machine design
  • Working knowledge of power transmission systems including drives, pulleys, belts, and gearboxes
  • Ability to maintain positive and professional relationships with all staff levels
  • Four-year degree in a relevant engineering field, preferably mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing
  • 5-10+ years in a leadership role
  • Proficiency in modern manufacturing methods and Lean problem solving.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with conveyors and material handling systems
  • Mastery of Lean problem-solving skills.
