About the position

The Manager of Merchandise & Marketing at Washington Spirit is responsible for developing and executing the merchandise strategy as part of the marketing team. This role requires a blend of design expertise and marketing acumen to create innovative merchandise that resonates with fans and drives revenue both online and in-stadium. The position involves collaboration with various teams to enhance the fan experience and promote merchandise effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Build out a 12-month product calendar to raise YoY revenue online and in-stadium.
  • Collaborate with Ticketing and Fan Experience teams on promotional giveaways.
  • Design new merchandise for regular season and special events.
  • Manage the concessionaire, Soccer Post, including internal orders and revenue reporting.
  • Work with content and marketing teams to promote and sell new merchandise.
  • Hire and manage seasonal staff for home matches.
  • Support matchday and special event merchandise operations, including setup and teardown of merchandise stands.
  • Assist the marketing team with assigned projects.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Experience in transforming a sports entity into a lifestyle brand.
  • Ability to deliver innovative ideas and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Experience in vendor and staff management.
  • Capability to implement long-term planning and execute short-term tasks.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and innovative mindset.

Nice-to-haves
