About the position

The Manager of Pathways to Peace is responsible for supervising the outreach component of the City's Violence Prevention Initiatives. This role focuses on developing relationships with individuals at risk of criminal behavior and ensuring appropriate referrals to community services. The position also involves administrative duties, record keeping, and monitoring the progress of individuals referred to supportive services.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates new violence prevention outreach programs
  • Oversees intervention efforts with individuals who are at-risk or suspected of participating in criminal behavior
  • Manages and monitors activities of Pathways to Peace field personnel
  • Maintains communication with community partners to ensure commitments are met
  • Ensures proper collaboration between City departments for effective outreach services
  • Assesses staff development needs and coordinates training as needed
  • Supports and sustains current employees involved in outreach
  • Attends community meetings to share information regarding outreach services for youth
  • Seeks alternate funding and grant opportunities to maintain outreach programs
  • Implements and enforces City and Bureau safety policy
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed

Requirements

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field PLUS two (2) years of paid experience working with at-risk youth or young adults
  • OR Associate's degree in Human Services, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field, PLUS four (4) years of paid experience as stated above
  • OR High school diploma or GED PLUS six (6) years of paid experience as stated above
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • A valid New York State Class D Driver's License at time of appointment
