About the position
The position is responsible for the operational and clinical management of a designated patient care unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, overseeing a significant number of full-time equivalents (FTEs) and managing substantial financial responsibilities. The role emphasizes leadership in ensuring safe and effective patient care, compliance with policies, and the achievement of departmental goals.
Responsibilities
- Manages individual(s) including hiring, training, assigning work, managing and evaluating performance, and conducting professional development plans.
- Ensures productivity and actions of the team meet operational goals established by department leadership.
- Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue, and expense budgets.
- Responds to changes in the business affecting budget goals.
- Directs the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care governed by evidence-based clinical and management practices.
- Ensures team compliance with departmental policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards; updates policies and procedures as needed.
- Promotes customer satisfaction, process indicators, quality improvement plans, and outcomes in the work unit.
- Researches, evaluates, selects, and implements systems to improve efficiency of work unit operations.
- Supports and assists the growth of existing or new business/programs.
Requirements
- Nursing Diploma/Associate's in Nursing
- 2-5 years of nursing experience
- Less than 2 years of supervisory experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- 5-10 years of nursing experience
- 2-5 years of supervisory experience
