About the position

The Manager of Philanthropy - Lions International Engagement at Leader Dogs for the Blind is responsible for engaging and soliciting donations from Lions International donors at various levels. This role involves developing strategies for donor cultivation and stewardship, serving as a key speaker and representative for the organization, and promoting fundraising efforts in alignment with the organization's mission and strategic plan.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively initiates, builds, and cultivates relationships with key Lions club donors in assigned region to achieve the expected revenue goal.
  • Develops innovative strategies for incentivizing Lions Club giving and increased engagement with the Leader Dog mission and promotes the recognition of all major contributing clubs.
  • Independently analyzes giving within assigned region to strategize methods and activities to reach individual fundraising goals.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations to provide insight and updates on Leader Dogs initiatives for engaging and soliciting groups and individuals.
  • Creates effective messaging for engaging Lions donors, within parameters of Lions communication plan and Leader Dogs strategic plan.
  • Plans strategic Leader Dog representation and information at club meetings, conventions, and Lions special events.
  • Serves as one of the organization's keynote speakers.
  • Assists and participates in the stewardship and recognition of all major contributing clubs.
  • Collaborates and trains nationwide network of volunteers to promote the mission and fundraise for Leader Dog.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in philanthropy, fundraising, marketing, communications, or related field required.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible professional work experience, preferably in the philanthropic arena, including public speaking.
  • Previous experience in a non-profit setting preferred.
  • CFRE preferred.
  • Ability to create effective presentations and utilize excellent storytelling skills of Leader Dogs mission to individual donors and large groups.
  • Proficient in writing donor-centric letters and solicitation materials or experience with an annual fund.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge of current version Microsoft Office products and ability to adapt to new technology for work in Raisers Edge or similar database program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with fundraising in a non-profit setting.
  • Familiarity with Lions Clubs and their operations.
