About the position

The Manager of Program Operations - Business Intelligence at the University of Washington is responsible for overseeing project management, process improvement, and product development within the Department of Radiology. This role involves leading a team, managing projects that drive data-driven decision-making, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management and business intelligence, with a focus on developing tools and processes that support clinical operations and education.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of project management including initiation, planning, execution, risks, and monitoring.
  • Mitigate project issues, risks, and escalations to ensure project delivery and overall success.
  • Define project tasks/scope and resource requirements; assemble and lead project teams.
  • Track, manage, and report status of current efforts, achieved milestones, and current risks and issues in formal documented status reports.
  • Maintain standard project management documentation and metrics.
  • Leverage process improvement methodologies to initiate process improvement initiatives.
  • Engage with and build relationships to represent Business Intelligence in cross-functional projects.
  • Research, analyze, and evaluate new technologies and practices in support of project management.
  • Create, maintain, and revise BI solutions (dashboards, reports, tools) for various operations using tools like Power BI and Tableau.
  • Explain analytics product functions and limitations to diverse audiences.
  • Lead vision for products based on stakeholder input and suggest features.
  • Mentor staff in tool development and create/update documentation of BI solutions.
  • Work with leadership to prioritize projects and maintain communication on goals.
  • Assign work within the team to manage projects and foster personnel development.
  • Create strong team morale and define success in terms of team achievements.
  • Manage and support the career development of direct reports.
  • Create and update process documentation of BI team workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, Data Analysis, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4+ years experience in project, program, and/or product management.
  • At least 3+ years of experience in data analysis or BI product development.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a research university or large healthcare enterprise.
  • Background in a consulting environment.
  • Experience implementing governance or process improvement processes.
  • Project Management certifications (PMP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of project management standards (PMBOK).
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, and SQL.
