BJ's Wholesale Club is seeking a motivated, energetic, and strategic Manager of External Communications to join our corporate communications team. This role is pivotal in shaping the public perception of our brand and requires a proven storyteller with significant experience in traditional public relations, media, influencer marketing, and a deep understanding of social media platforms. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing public relations for a corporation or large retailer, identifying opportunities for media coverage, activating community and corporate events, and creating compelling narratives that foster brand loyalty and drive sales support. Proficiency in corporate and crisis communications, as well as executive writing, is essential. Familiarity with social management tools is also a must. In this role, the Manager will oversee day-to-day media relations and social media operations, which includes monitoring media hits, content planning, creative execution, influencer programming, and social media channel calendaring. The Manager will support key business priorities and engage members through brand-building initiatives in both traditional public relations and social strategies. They will be responsible for planning and managing the implementation of integrated public relations, influencer, and social media plans that support a wide range of consumer-facing initiatives. The Manager will also develop and implement comprehensive external communication strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives. Collaboration with senior leadership to craft key messages and ensure consistent communication across platforms is a critical aspect of this role. The Manager will monitor and adapt communication strategies in response to market trends, stakeholder expectations, and emerging requests. Additionally, they will draft, review, and distribute press releases, media kits, speeches, and other communication materials, ensuring that all external communications are clear, accurate, and aligned with the company's brand and messaging. Furthermore, the Manager will manage the brand's social media presence, oversee the creative development and execution of content, and develop seasonal and category-specific campaigns, including influencer, social, and media relations. They will lead influencer programs for priority categories and collaborate with partners in merchandising, marketing, membership, real estate, development, and digital marketing to deliver external communications programming aligned with business priorities. The Manager will also manage analytics using data-driven insights to refine and elevate communication strategies and improve outreach efforts, while overseeing the management of the company's visual and verbal brand identity in external-facing materials. Keeping a strong pulse on emerging technology and platforms is essential to identify trends in public relations and social media that can help deliver against strategic objectives. Lastly, the Manager will support the overall corporate communications team and objectives in various areas, including public relations, social media, community affairs, internal communications, and crisis communications.
