BJ's Wholesale Club is seeking a motivated, energetic, and strategic Manager of External Communications to join our corporate communications team. This role is pivotal in shaping the narrative of our brand and requires a proven storyteller with significant experience in traditional public relations, media, influencer marketing, and a deep understanding of social media platforms. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading public relations for a corporation or large retailer, identifying opportunities for media coverage, activating community and corporate events, and creating strong engagement and storytelling to foster brand loyalty and drive sales support. Proficiency in corporate and crisis communications, as well as executive writing, is essential. Familiarity with social management tools is also a must. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day media relations and social media operations, which includes monitoring media hits, content planning, creative execution, influencer programming, and social media channel calendaring. You will support key business priorities and engage members through brand-building initiatives in traditional public relations and social strategies. Your responsibilities will include planning and managing the implementation of integrated public relations, influencer, and social media plans that support a wide range of consumer-facing initiatives. You will also manage and help scale influencer programming and content with a focus on driving engagement, consideration, and sales. Additionally, you will develop and implement comprehensive external communication strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives. Collaboration with senior leadership to craft key messages and ensure consistent communication across platforms will be a critical part of your role. You will monitor and adapt communication strategies in response to market trends, stakeholder expectations, and emerging requests. Drafting, reviewing, and distributing press releases, media kits, speeches, and other communication materials will also be part of your daily tasks. Ensuring that all external communications are clear, accurate, and aligned with the company's brand and messaging is paramount. You will manage the brand's social media presence and oversee the creative development and execution of content, as well as develop and execute seasonal and category-specific campaigns, including influencer, social, and media relations. Leading influencer programs for priority categories and collaborating with partners in merchandising, marketing, membership, real estate, development, and digital marketing to deliver external communications programming aligned with business priorities will be essential. You will also manage analytics using data-driven insights to refine and elevate communication strategies and improve outreach efforts. Lastly, you will oversee the management of the company's visual and verbal brand identity in external-facing materials and keep a strong pulse on emerging technology and platforms.
