About the position

The Manager of Research Engineering at Thomson Reuters Labs is a hands-on engineering manager responsible for guiding the delivery of innovative AI solutions from concept to production. This role involves fostering a culture of innovation, managing a team of engineers, and collaborating closely with product and domain experts to identify and implement effective solutions. The manager will oversee technical direction, promote best practices in software delivery, and ensure the successful execution of business-critical features for customer-facing applications.

Responsibilities

  • Promote efficient collaboration between scientists and engineers on a project basis.

  • Coach engineering leads within the team.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or equivalent; a Master's or PhD in a relevant specialization is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years' software development experience, with demonstrated ability to manage software development teams in an agile environment.
  • Experience spearheading technical development in a cross-functional setting, particularly with ML applications.
  • A portfolio showcasing significant contributions to technology innovation.
  • Excellent project management, organization, and communication skills.
  • Experience contributing to and overseeing large-scale rollouts and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Expertise in robust Python development, MLOps, containerization, cloud infrastructure (AWS and Azure), advanced search and recommendation technology, orchestration of ML pipelines for real-time inference, microservices architecture, model monitoring, and governance.
