About the position

The Manager of Risk Management at Nabors will play a crucial role in supporting the strategic development, implementation, and effective administration of all corporate global risk management programs. This position is designed for individuals who are skilled and knowledgeable, ready to thrive in a fast-paced environment while delivering top-notch solutions to meet business needs. The Manager will be responsible for supporting insurance renewals, managing claims, and collaborating closely with the business and the Director of Risk Management on various insurance-related initiatives. This includes identifying, measuring, and managing risks, developing comprehensive reports and plans, and analyzing risk and insurance problems to optimize future operations. In this role, the Manager will facilitate the procurement of insurance, including renewals and new placements, and manage related in-house services such as invoice approval and payment processing. The position also involves the procurement of surety bonds and managing insurance captive programs. The Manager will oversee insurance claims management, mediations, and maintain relationships with service providers and vendors. Additionally, the role requires advising on risk mitigation strategies, insured claim accruals, and supporting corporate property and casualty insurance programs. The Manager will be tasked with developing proactive risk management techniques, conducting operational audits to minimize potential losses, and supporting the development of overall corporate risk management strategies. This includes overseeing investigations of incidents that may result in asset loss, approving reserves for claims exposures, and ensuring effective communication and coordination of efforts across departments. The Manager will also be responsible for directing personnel to ensure project completion and may perform other duties and special projects as requested by senior management.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the procurement of insurance and related in-house services, including invoice approval and payment processing.
  • Manage the procurement of surety bonds and related in-house services.
  • Oversee insurance captive management, including run-off programs.
  • Manage insurance claims and related activities, including mediations.
  • Maintain service provider/vendor relationships and negotiate service agreements.
  • Act as a liaison with insurance brokers, claim administrators, actuaries, and legal counsel.
  • Advise on risk mitigation strategies and insured claim accruals.
  • Support acquisition and divestiture due diligence as needed.
  • Resolve litigated and non-litigated insurance claims.
  • Prepare presentations for the Board and conduct insurance underwriter meetings.
  • Support corporate property & casualty insurance programs, including renewal processes and claims management.
  • Review contracts to ensure compliance with insurance programs and negotiate acceptable insurance terms.
  • Develop proactive risk management techniques to minimize potential losses.
  • Analyze loss data and industry trends to determine optimal retention levels for risk management strategies.
  • Oversee investigations of incidents that may result in asset loss and approve reserves for claims exposures.
  • Direct personnel to ensure project completion and resource allocation for marketing departments.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as requested by senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in risk management or a related business field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in global Risk Management and Claims Management for an organization with international operations.
  • Experience managing the placement of insurance in both domestic and international markets.
  • Experience with managing insurance claims and adjustments.
  • Experience in preparing renewal submissions and conducting underwriter audits.
  • Experience resolving physical damage claims and addressing disputed insurance coverage issues.
  • Experience with contract negotiations and project management.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Considerable knowledge of risk management principles and practices in the Oil & Gas Industry.
  • Proficient in modern office practices and procedures related to risk management, including spreadsheet programs and risk management software.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and reports, and analyze data to solve issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bi-lingual (preferably Spanish, French, or Portuguese).
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification.
  • Associate in Claims (AIC) certification.
  • Risk and Insurance Management Certificate (RIMS).
  • Adjuster - All Lines certification.
  • Working experience in the offshore drilling industry or with an oil-related service company.
