About the position

As the Manager of Risk Management at CareMax, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the organization's insurance portfolio and managing risk-related activities to ensure patient safety and compliance with regulatory standards. Your primary responsibilities will include managing insurance claims, incident management, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. You will work closely with various departments, including Finance, Legal, and Operations, to negotiate insurance terms and secure optimal coverage for potential risks. This position requires a proactive approach to risk mitigation and the ability to analyze data to identify trends and develop strategies to enhance patient safety. In your role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing incident reporting systems, conducting thorough investigations of incidents, and leading patient safety initiatives. You will collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to foster a culture of continuous improvement and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. Additionally, you will prepare and present regular reports on risk management activities and patient safety outcomes to senior management, ensuring that the organization remains informed about emerging risks and industry trends. Your expertise in risk management will also extend to training and educating staff on best practices related to incident reporting and patient safety. You will assist the Chief Compliance Officer with internal investigations and monitor compliance with corrective action plans. This role is crucial in enhancing the overall safety and quality of patient care at CareMax, and you will be expected to establish effective working relationships across business units to promote a collaborative approach to risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the organization's insurance portfolio, ensuring adequate coverage for all potential risks.
  • Liaise with insurance brokers and carriers to negotiate terms and secure the best possible rates and coverage.
  • Regularly review and update insurance policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational needs.
  • Manage all insurance-related claims, including documentation and communication with insurers.
  • Develop and implement incident reporting and management systems.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, accidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Lead patient safety initiatives, including risk assessments, safety audits, and the implementation of best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines related to risk management and patient safety.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for staff on risk management, incident reporting, and patient safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management, Risk Management, Nursing, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance processes, claims management, quality, patient safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Certification in risk management (e.g., CPHRM) desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication (written/oral), presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities at one time.
  • Proficiency in risk management software and incident reporting systems.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.
  • Attention to detail a must.
