About the position

The Manager of Safety, Security & Compliance (MSSC) is responsible for overseeing safety education, accident prevention, loss control, drug and alcohol testing programs, and ensuring regulatory compliance within the organization. This role emphasizes the development of high-quality Microtransit Operators through effective training and supervision, while maintaining a safe and compliant working environment. The MSSC is accountable for the safety and security of the operations building and is tasked with implementing policies and procedures that align with federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety education and accident prevention programs.
  • Manage drug and alcohol testing programs and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Supervise the training department to produce high-quality Microtransit Operators.
  • Establish and maintain a healthy working environment to enhance effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for operations personnel compliance.
  • Review and administer appropriate training for safety violations.
  • Perform live and recorded observations of employee driving skills and customer interactions.
  • Investigate customer complaints and provide summary reports.
  • Investigate safety or driving events, including incidents and accidents.
  • Enter payroll hours into ADP for student operators.
  • Maintain a comprehensive Drive Cam program.
  • Conduct monthly safety events and mini safety events weekly.
  • Lead the location Safety Solutions Team.
  • Conduct annual wheelchair refresher and ADA compliance training.
  • Maintain safety, training, and personal files securely.
  • Respond to safety-related inquiries and incidents within the service area.
  • Ensure timely completion of post trainee evaluations.
  • Act as the point of contact for the Respect The WeRIDE rider code of conduct program.
  • Administer the FTA drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Deliver safe and timely service and conduct refresher training sessions with Operators.
  • Maintain knowledge of contract requirements and telecommunications capabilities.
  • Collaborate with other managers and supervisors to achieve operational improvements.
  • Provide oral and written reports, statistics, and data internally and externally.
  • Report accident information into the National Transit Database (NTD).

Requirements

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and be detail-oriented.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Leadership skills in problem-solving.
  • Ability to objectively investigate operator-related problems.
  • Technical knowledge and related work experience is a plus.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and substance abuse test.
  • Excellent motor vehicle record with at least 3 years of driving experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Transit, Paratransit, or Microtransit operations.
