About the position

As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking group, you will play a pivotal leadership role in mentoring and advising multiple technical teams. Your primary responsibility will be to provide technical coaching and guidance, ensuring that the teams are well-equipped to tackle the challenges of financial technologies. You will be expected to anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm, leveraging your expertise to influence budgetary and technical considerations that drive operational efficiencies and enhance functionalities. In this role, you will oversee a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers, guiding them through basic to moderately complex tasks. You will be accountable for decisions that impact the teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures. Your leadership will ensure successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders, as you identify and mitigate issues to execute a comprehensive book of work, escalating concerns as necessary. You will also provide valuable input to senior leadership regarding budgetary considerations, strategic approaches, and technical insights aimed at improving operational efficiencies and functionality for your team. A key aspect of your role will be to foster a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect among team members, prioritizing diverse representation and creating an environment where all voices are heard and valued.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks.
  • Accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures.
  • Ensures successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
  • Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary.
  • Provides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team.
  • Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on Software Engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience.
  • Experience leading teams of technologists.
  • Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives.
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
  • In-depth knowledge of the services industry and their IT systems.
  • Practical cloud native experience.
  • Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines.
