About the position

The Manager of Software Engineering for Productivity Tools & MDM at H-E-B is responsible for leading a team focused on enhancing the provisioning and mobile device management experience. This role emphasizes mentorship, ownership of software delivery, and the development of tools that promote self-service and efficiency. The manager will oversee the design and development of RESTful APIs, ensuring high-quality technology delivery while fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, and directly supervise a high-performing team of engineers working in the Public Cloud space.
• Coach and mentor team members in engineering techniques, processes, and new technologies.
• Manage all HR responsibilities for the team, including pay planning, promotions, expenses, and leave.
• Lead large initiatives within the team, ensuring technical design and delivery of complex features.
• Develop technical roadmaps and lead engineers across squads to deliver initiatives.
• Recommend improvements to application system design, architecture, security, scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Identify ways to improve codebases and propose solutions to complex problems.
• Iterate toward a seamless onboarding experience for engineers.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in a Software Engineering and Support organization.
• 2-5 years of experience managing software engineers.
• Proven track record in leading a team to ship features and products.
• Background in Microsoft 365 and Mobile Device Management.
• Expert understanding of development Agile methodologies and processes.
• Knowledge of system architecture and design patterns.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively.
