About the position

The Software Manager is responsible for leading the Software Engineering team at Swisslog, focusing on enhancing and maintaining automated material handling and warehouse management software. The role aims to meet customer requirements and maximize satisfaction through effective management practices, skill enhancement of team members, and ensuring high-quality software applications. The manager will oversee the quality and timeliness of software development while achieving targeted profit margins.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and motivate an effective software engineering team, ensuring required resources and performance management.
  • Prepare business plans for the cost center, including budgeting, forecasting, and training planning based on yearly goals.
  • Budget, forecast, and maintain the cost center account to ensure competitive cost levels.
  • Estimate and review software effort estimates for future enhancements and customer support.
  • Provide training to software engineers to maintain competence in the industry and Swisslog products.
  • Allocate tasks evenly across the team and prioritize workload based on customer issues.
  • Transfer project-specific knowledge efficiently to the software support team.
  • Create and implement training packages appropriate to job roles.
  • Perform account management tasks, assessing customer business needs and applicability of Swisslog products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science.
  • 5 years of experience in warehouse management.
  • 5 years of experience in software management.
  • Material handling/warehouse automation experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products; SAP experience is a benefit.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
