About the position

Global Payments is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead two agile teams focused on enhancing the customer boarding experience. The role emphasizes automation, continuous deployment, and high-quality code delivery. The manager will collaborate with various stakeholders to streamline processes and educate the business on effective technology use, while also mentoring team members and ensuring compliance with corporate standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop highly technical agile teams of seasoned developers and software development engineers in test.
  • Ensure testing coverage and automation efforts are achieved, being accountable for the quality of the team's code and tests.
  • Spend a maximum of 10% of time in the codebase on non-time-sensitive tasks such as unit testing and bug fixes.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to define and deliver end-to-end business processes.
  • Provide leadership, activity planning, and direction to complete team tasks and meet project milestones.
  • Mentor team members and identify opportunities for individual growth.
  • Work with product managers to manage and prioritize the team's product backlog.
  • Collaborate with Site Reliability and platform teams to optimize CI/CD processes and test automation frameworks.
  • Manage resource allocation within the team on a day-to-day basis.
  • Communicate with technical and business teams on project delivery and day-to-day work.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years as a software engineer with at least 1 year managing teams.
  • C# experience is essential for all engineering positions.
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices, with experience in .NET.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time through effective development processes and resource allocation.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and efficiently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
  • Cloud-native development experience.
  • Experience with containers and Kubernetes.
  • Azure or GCP cloud experience.
  • Experience with front-end automation testing frameworks like Playwright.
