About the position

As a Manager of Software Engineering within the Consumer and Community Banking Operations Technology team, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day implementation activities. This includes identifying and escalating issues, ensuring that your team's work adheres to compliance standards, business requirements, and tactical best practices. Your leadership will be crucial in guiding your immediate team of software engineers, setting overall expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration. You will also play a key role in anticipating dependencies with other teams to ensure the timely delivery of products and applications that align with business requirements. In this role, you will manage stakeholder relationships and ensure that your team's work complies with established standards, service level agreements, and business requirements. You will foster a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect among team members, prioritizing diverse representation within your teams. Your ability to coach and mentor will be essential as you guide your team through complex projects and challenges, ensuring that they have the support and resources needed to succeed. This position not only requires technical expertise but also strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with various stakeholders and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities
  • Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration
  • Anticipates dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements
  • Manages stakeholder relationships and the team's work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements
  • Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience
  • 10+ years of experience managing technologists
  • Experience with ES5+, React JS, Node JS, Python, Java with Spring Boot and C#/.Net
  • Experience leading technology projects
  • Proficient in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology discipline
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
