About the position

The Manager of System and Technical Support at UTMB Health is responsible for overseeing and coordinating personnel involved in system and customer support, providing technical expertise in operational systems and process improvement activities. This role requires managing a team that ensures the security and functionality of various systems, including physical and technical network security across all UTMB campuses. The manager will also evaluate system performance, conduct risk assessments, and manage complex projects while providing 24/7 support for security infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise personnel involved in system and customer support.
  • Provide technical expertise in the planning, implementation, and performance of operational systems.
  • Conduct systems analysis and programming activities for security operations services.
  • Prepare mid and short-range plans for application selection and systems maintenance.
  • Harden, monitor, and maintain security components against external threats.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for security infrastructure issues.
  • Review security infrastructure device logs and assist with incident response activities.
  • Evaluate new security technologies and their risks to campus facilities.
  • Support external oversight audits and document findings.
  • Maintain and implement standard operating procedures for security components.
  • Provide performance and compliance reports on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate with other teams and participate in working groups related to security.
  • Gather and report security-related information across multiple environments.
  • Serve as an expert consultant for physical security projects and programs.
  • Act as Physical Security Incident Response Coordinator for the tech team.
  • Manage and lead a team of security professionals, establishing priorities and standards.
  • Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and counsel staff.
  • Represent the department professionally and knowledgeably.
  • Act as an incident leader during emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with two years related experience, including one year at a supervisory level.
  • Demonstrated experience in security design, implementation, operations, and documentation at a management level.
  • Experience with security technologies including access control, CCTV, and incident management.
  • Ability to deliver results in a high-energy, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills, both verbal and written.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Certified LCP (Lenel Certified Professional) with five years knowledge of Lenel - OnGuard Enterprise Systems.
  • Industry certifications such as CISM, PSP, CPP, CDSE, or other relevant certifications.
  • Project Management Certification, such as PMP.
  • Three to five years of experience with security technologies including access control, CCTV, and incident management.
  • Seven years in a leadership position in Security operations.
  • Working knowledge of emergency or crisis management and business continuity.
