About the position

The Manager of Talent Acquisition at Ropes & Gray will lead the business support Talent Acquisition Team, playing a pivotal role in implementing and executing firm-wide business support hiring plans and practices. This position is responsible for planning, developing, and executing an effective talent acquisition strategy that aligns with the firm's goals. The manager will focus on building and enhancing the business support brand while ensuring the effectiveness of the onboarding and assimilation processes for new hires. In this role, the manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the business support recruiting function, ensuring that processes and best practices are consistently executed. This includes partnering with managers and client departments to develop and implement effective strategies that address current and future recruitment needs. The manager will build internal relationships to be viewed as a trusted advisor to hiring managers, demonstrating a thorough understanding of their departments, team dynamics, and success factors to identify candidates who will thrive in their roles. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for developing and delivering training on the business support recruiting process and best practices to departments and hiring managers. They will work closely with the Senior Manager of Human Resources and Professional Development teams to design content that supports learning objectives for firm-wide recruitment training programs. The manager will also analyze workforce data, recommend strategies to improve issues or trends, and oversee the firm's internship and co-op program, enhancing the intern experience and building affiliations with universities aligned with the firm's recruiting strategies. The onboarding process will also fall under the manager's purview, where they will enhance and implement effective onboarding strategies for new hires, including conducting regular assessments and gathering feedback to continuously improve the onboarding experience. The manager will work effectively with direct reports, providing guidance and coaching, and identifying training and development opportunities to ensure steady career progression.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the business support recruiting function.
  • Partner with managers/client departments to develop and implement effective recruitment strategies.
  • Build internal relationships to be viewed as a trusted advisor to hiring managers.
  • Coach managers and hiring managers on implementing recruiting best practices.
  • Develop and deliver training on the business support recruiting process and best practices.
  • Work with Senior Manager of Human Resources to design content for recruitment training programs.
  • Manage requisition load balance for the talent acquisition team.
  • Oversee the firm's internship and co-op program, including recruitment and onboarding.
  • Engage with firm vendors and negotiate employment vendor contracts.
  • Manage the background check process for new hires.
  • Enhance and implement an effective onboarding strategy for new hires.
  • Conduct regular assessments and gather feedback to improve the onboarding process.
  • Work effectively with direct reports to provide guidance and coaching.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience working in a law firm or professional service firm environment strongly preferred.
  • Ten years of recruitment experience with a proven track record of advancement and leadership.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in leading recruiting teams.
  • Working knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
  • Strong subject matter expertise in recruiting, including strategic staffing plans and diversity.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with business lines and HR disciplines to deliver recruitment solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of change management practices and project management.
  • Thorough understanding of recruitment, employee relations, and US labor laws.
