About the position

Shield AI is seeking a highly skilled individual to join our team at the intersection of technical accounting and accounting operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate recognition and reporting of all transactions, thereby helping the organization achieve its financial goals. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting and will collaborate with various departments across the company. The primary responsibilities will include conducting technical accounting research, implementing complex accounting issues, and leading M&A accounting activities under ASC 805 while ensuring global policy alignment. In this role, you will prepare technical schedules and memos for consolidations, revenue recognition, M&A, debt, leases, equity, and stock-based compensation. You will work closely with the legal team to assist in drafting contracts that align with the company's strategic goals within the framework of accounting guidance. Additionally, you will create monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages, develop and maintain global accounting policies and memos, and provide US GAAP compliance support to the Finance team. Educating business partners and team members on developments in accounting, financial reporting, and best industry practices will also be a key part of your responsibilities. You will liaise with external auditors, performing walkthroughs and responding to audit requests, while providing technical support to members of the Finance team on accounting treatment issues in compliance with US GAAP. Contributing to SOX compliance efforts for internal financial reporting controls will be essential, along with performing additional duties as assigned by the Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 5+ years of public accounting experience; CPA required
  • Strong technical expertise in accordance with US GAAP
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Costpoint is a plus
  • Experience with M&A, debt, equity, software revenue, stock-based compensation is a plus
  • Aerospace and defense or software sales experience is a plus
