About the position

The Manager of Utility Fleet and Facility Services is a critical role within the Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) that requires a high level of independent judgment and discretion. This position is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of properties, facilities, furnishings, vehicles, and field equipment utilized by RPU. The manager ensures that all assets are properly specified, selected, acquired, operated, and maintained, which is essential for the organization to effectively perform its duties and serve its electric and water customers. This role also encompasses the oversight of the physical security of RPU facilities, ensuring that all locations are safe and secure for both employees and the public. In addition to asset management, the Manager will direct the work of staff, consultants, and contractors, ensuring that all operations align with the strategic goals of RPU. This includes developing and implementing policies and procedures related to fleet and facility management, as well as ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The position requires strong leadership skills, as the manager will be responsible for mentoring and guiding team members, fostering a collaborative work environment, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the department. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of utility operations, facility management, and fleet services, along with the ability to analyze complex situations and make informed decisions. Responsibilities
