About the position

The Manager of Web, Marketing, and Social Media at the University at Albany will play a crucial role in promoting the university's graduate programs and events through various digital channels. This position is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies that effectively communicate the value of the Graduate School to prospective students and the broader community. The manager will oversee the creation of engaging content for the university's website, social media platforms, and print materials, ensuring that all communications align with the university's branding and messaging standards. In this role, the manager will plan, execute, and assess the Graduate School's web and social media communications, including brochures and email campaigns. They will produce and schedule professional content and graphics tailored to specific audiences, design and execute paid digital and social media advertisements, and provide support to academic departments in achieving their recruitment goals. The manager will also maintain a positive online presence for the Graduate School, responding to messages and posts in a timely and professional manner. Utilizing the SLATE Technolutions CRM application, the manager will develop, manage, and improve marketing campaigns while analyzing their effectiveness through data collection. This position requires attendance at on-campus and regional events to promote the Graduate School and maintain an accurate marketing budget. The manager will also be responsible for creating and editing content for various marketing materials, including social media, blogs, and newsletters, and capturing visual content for promotional use.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and assess the Graduate School's web, print, and social media communications, ensuring brand consistency.
  • Produce and schedule engaging content and graphics for social media sites, blogs, and webpages.
  • Design and execute paid digital and social media ads and campaigns to enhance the Graduate School's reach.
  • Provide support to academic departments regarding web, marketing, and social media for graduate student recruitment.
  • Maintain and enhance the Graduate School's online presence, responding to messages/posts professionally.
  • Utilize SLATE Technolutions CRM to manage and improve communication and marketing campaigns.
  • Collect data to analyze the effectiveness of marketing and social media campaigns and implement improvements.
  • Attend on-campus and regional events and presentations to promote the Graduate School.
  • Maintain and update an accurate marketing budget.
  • Create, write, and edit content for social media, blogs, newsletters, and other marketing materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, digital media, higher education, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in marketing and communications management.
  • Experience with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Experience with new media, website design, DRUPAL, ADOBE Creative Cloud, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong editing skills to ensure accuracy in written material and graphics.
  • Ability to use data from social media and marketing efforts to make informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and update print documents.
  • Ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within a diverse campus community.
  • Commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced education and training (master's degree or advanced certifications) in communications, marketing, or digital media.
  • Strong understanding of Facebook's business and ads manager platforms, and experience with other social platforms' ads managers.
  • Experience in higher education marketing or communications.
  • Knowledge of University at Albany Brand.
  • Proficiency with SLATE (Technolutions).

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $58,000-$62,000.
