About the position

The Manager of OOS AOG Major Repairs at Frontier Airlines is responsible for overseeing the safe, compliant, and economical return of aircraft to service during extended Out of Service (OOS) events, critical Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations, or major repairs. This role involves coordinating with various teams, assessing situations on-site, and ensuring effective communication and strategy implementation for aircraft repairs. The manager acts as the primary point of contact for technical operations in the field, ensuring that all necessary resources are procured and that the repair process is executed efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Frontier Airlines organizations to secure safe and economical return to service plans for aircraft requiring extended repairs.
  • Monitor the Out of Service Board to identify significant events and develop return to service solutions.
  • Source and secure contract maintenance providers for significant OOS/AOG events.
  • Assess the severity of OOS events on-site and develop recovery plans in collaboration with the Maintenance Control Center (MCC).
  • Procure necessary parts, manpower, equipment, and tooling for repair events and track their progress.
  • Act as project manager during OOS events, ensuring quality control and compliance with documentation.
  • Maintain a database of damages and OOS events for reporting to Safety and Finance teams.
  • Assist in pulling historical documents and data gathering for recouping losses from damage incidents.

Requirements

  • FAA-certificated mechanic with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 10 years of aircraft-related maintenance work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in aircraft maintenance.
  • Experience with Airbus heavy maintenance and line maintenance.
  • Familiarity with Engineering Documents, Aircraft Drawings, and Wiring Diagrams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work without supervision and demonstrate leadership.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with current Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Airworthiness Directives.
  • Experience with aircraft induction or return processes.
  • Experience with aircraft recovery and composite repair.
  • Prior exposure to Human Resources processes.
  • Experience with maintaining department budgets and reviewing provider invoices.
