About the position

The Operations Manager (OM) at Colonial Pipeline Company is responsible for leading all activities within the Operating Area to ensure the safe and effective operation of the company's facilities. This role focuses on achieving safety, system integrity, and operational excellence by managing employee performance and behavior. The OM serves as the primary representative of the company to both internal and external stakeholders, addressing customer needs and engaging with the community and regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all operational activities within the Operating Area.
  • Manage performance of staff and ensure safety and quality control.
  • Oversee budgeting, compliance, and regulatory matters.
  • Interact with customers, including power generation plants and local distribution companies.
  • Promote and ensure the development of employees to create effective work teams.
  • Lead fuel optimization operations and support associated projects.
  • Communicate and evaluate performance expectations, providing feedback and coaching.
  • Demonstrate leadership to drive continuous improvement and organizational excellence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local shippers, government agencies, and community groups.
  • Prepare for and represent the company during audits by governmental agencies and shippers.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a technical or business-related field; combination of experience and education considered.
  • 5 years of operations or business experience in pipeline operations or related industry; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to utilize effective leadership skills in guiding individuals and groups.
  • Broad interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across the organization.
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations and regulatory requirements, including DOT 195 and OSHA regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pipeline operations, including tank farms and delivery facilities.
  • Commitment to adhere to policies and procedures and demonstrate core values of the company.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Colonial experience or pipeline industry experience.
  • 7-9 years of operations or business experience in pipeline operations or related industry experience if no degree; desired experience with crisis management.
