About the position

The Operations Manager at Sephora is responsible for overseeing the efficient day-to-day operations of a department within the Distribution Center. This role emphasizes managing various operational activities to ensure productivity and service goals are met. The Operations Manager supervises both exempt and non-exempt staff, focusing on safety, housekeeping, and sanitation activities while fostering a collaborative and accountable team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the assigned department within the Distribution Center.
  • Supervise exempt supervisors and non-exempt associates to achieve operational goals.
  • Develop and implement strategic and tactical plans for the department.
  • Promote team collaboration and accountability for performance objectives.
  • Ensure effective communication throughout the organization to encourage change and maintain operational success.
  • Provide coaching and development support to direct reports.
  • Contribute to policy and program development for daily work activities.
  • Establish employee engagement programs to foster teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze data to develop preventative measures that positively impact productivity.
  • Manage allocation of equipment and labor resources to meet service levels and budgets.
  • Conduct quality and accuracy control audits regularly.
  • Prepare management, productivity, and finance analysis reports in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in warehouse management or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of distribution operating systems and warehouse activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire teams of up to 300 associates.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with public speaking and effective feedback mechanisms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) such as JDA.
  • College degree in a logistics-related field.
