About the position

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient day-to-day operations of a department within the Distribution Center at Sephora. This role emphasizes managing various operational activities to ensure productivity and service goals are met while supervising both exempt and non-exempt staff. The Operations Manager will lead teams, promote collaboration, and ensure adherence to safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the efficient day-to-day operation of an assigned department within the Distribution Center.
  • Manage numerous operational activities to ensure the production floor is balanced and productive.
  • Supervise exempt and non-exempt staff, overseeing safety and housekeeping activities.
  • Develop and implement strategic and tactical plans for the Distribution Center.
  • Promote team collaboration and accountability for meeting performance objectives.
  • Build and promote effective communication throughout the organization.
  • Ensure direct reports receive the necessary support for effective management.
  • Manage a group of supervisors and associates to accomplish established goals.
  • Contribute to policy and program development and execution.
  • Establish employee engagement programs to foster teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze data to develop preventative measures that positively impact productivity.
  • Manage allocation of equipment and labor resources to meet service levels and budgets.
  • Conduct quality and accuracy control audits regularly.
  • Prepare management, productivity, and finance analysis reports in a timely manner.
  • Follow all company, safety, performance, state, and OSHA rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • College degree in a logistics-related field or five to ten years of relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience with a Warehouse Management System (WMS) or ability to quickly develop proficiency in such systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to lead large teams of up to 300 associates.
  • Knowledge of distribution operating systems and logistics activities.
  • Proven analytical abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in warehouse management systems (WMS) such as JDA.
  • Public speaking skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others.
