About the position

The Operations Manager at Howmet Fastening Systems is responsible for directing manufacturing teams to ensure efficient operations within the manufacturing activities. This role emphasizes a customer-focused approach, prioritizing quality and on-time delivery, while leading a commitment to employee involvement and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise activities of Manufacturing Managers, Production Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, Leads, and Operators.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing operations business plans, including program requirements, labor hours, cycle, production costs, and image.
  • Provide input to product strategy and research and development of new products.
  • Establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and obtain data regarding product specifications and delivery dates.
  • Guide the development of a manufacturing process plan, including personnel, material, subcontract, facility, and tooling needs.
  • Ensure all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities with other functions and suppliers for optimal production and resource utilization.
  • Review production and operating reports, directing the resolution of operational and maintenance problems.
  • Perform administrative activities related to effective management of shop operations, including production data reporting.
  • Determine responsibilities of assigned organization and staff positions to meet business objectives.
  • Serve as subject matter experts to senior business leaders for project advancement.
  • Lead the team to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual performance goals.
  • Manage Manufacturing, Heat Treat, and Plating with over 100 hourly production operators.
  • Implement company policies related to attendance, overtime, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Train and ensure compliance of all assigned employees with company, government, and customer policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business administration from a four-year college or university.
  • 8-10 years of related experience and/or training in the aerospace industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills for speaking before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
  • Knowledge of MRP System Manufacturing software, Excel, and Microsoft Word.

  • Experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
