About the position

The Manager, Outside Sales position at Spectrum is a leadership role responsible for overseeing a geographically assigned team of Residential Connectivity Sales Supervisors and their respective teams. This position plays a crucial role in managing daily operations aimed at selling best-in-class services to residential customers while supporting the company's goals of soliciting new prospective customers. The ideal candidate will be a charismatic and enthusiastic leader, skilled in creating excitement and energy within the team, and adept at building and leading teams while developing the skills of others. In this role, the manager will actively support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience, ensuring that the team meets and exceeds budgeted headcount and sales goals. Strong project management skills are essential, as the manager will need to prioritize multiple tasks and initiatives in a fast-paced environment. The position requires a detailed understanding of Charter's product offerings and value propositions in the markets served, as well as familiarity with reporting and analytics necessary to drive and support business decisions. The manager will also be responsible for staff management functions, including selection, training, development, performance evaluation, discipline, and salary/status change recommendations. Setting clear expectations and holding employees accountable is a key aspect of this role. The position involves approximately 30% fieldwork and 70% office work, requiring the ability to travel to assigned territories and company facilities, even during inclement weather. The manager will coach the team to follow Charter's Sales Process and ensure timely and accurate approval of all commission payments, while also completing administrative tasks related to sales activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Residential Connectivity Sales Supervisors and their teams.
  • Meet and exceed budgeted headcount and sales goals.

  • Manage staff functions including selection, training, development, and performance evaluation.
  • Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for their performance.
  • Identify knowledge and training gaps and develop plans to address them.
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve business goals.
  • Monitor payroll processes and ensure timely approval of commission payments.
  • Prepare reports as needed and complete administrative tasks related to sales activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or marketing, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of Outside Sales or related work experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong technical and computer skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

  • Knowledge of Direct Sales practices.
  • Experience with consumer education of products and services.
  • Knowledge of cable or telecommunications service.
  • Sales supervisory experience preferred.
