About the position

The Manager of Outside Sales at Charter Communications is responsible for leading a team of Residential Connectivity Sales Supervisors and their teams in a designated geographic area. This role focuses on managing daily operations to sell residential services, enhancing customer experience, and achieving sales goals. The position requires strong leadership, project management skills, and the ability to develop team members while ensuring accountability and performance excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Residential Connectivity Sales Supervisors and their teams.
  • Meet and exceed budgeted headcount and sales goals.
  • Support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Create excitement and energy within the team and develop skills in others.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks and initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manage staff functions including selection, training, development, performance evaluation, and salary recommendations.
  • Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for performance.
  • Identify knowledge and training gaps and develop plans to address them.
  • Utilize reporting and analytics to drive business decisions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Allocate staff work between fieldwork (30%) and office work (70%).
  • Coach to Charter's Sales Process and communicate territory assignments.
  • Monitor payroll processes and ensure timely commission payments.
  • Complete administrative tasks related to sales activities and ensure team compliance.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of product offerings and marketplace competition.
  • Prepare reports as needed and perform other duties as requested by leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or marketing, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of Outside Sales or related work experience.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong technical and computer skills.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to travel to assigned territories and company facilities using a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Ability to work outside for extended periods in any season and/or during inclement weather.
  • Familiarity with various consumer and commercial communications devices and software applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Direct Sales practices.
  • Experience with consumer education of products and services.
  • Knowledge of cable or telecommunications service.
  • Sales Supervisory experience preferred (0.5+ years).
