About the position

The Manager, Parts and Inventory is responsible for overseeing the procurement, purchasing, storage, distribution, and security of parts, supplies, materials, and equipment to support vehicle and facilities maintenance activities. This role ensures the availability of necessary items for maintenance operations, collaborates with various stakeholders, and maintains inventory for audits. The position also involves managing department personnel and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Implement plans and objectives to assure delivery and availability of parts, materials, and supplies for vehicle maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent, Parts & Inventory on storeroom management and procurement processes.
  • Manage control and security of parts and supplies to minimize storage costs and prevent stock-outs.
  • Maintain an inventory of all parts and supplies for audits and coordinate with service providers.
  • Act as a liaison between service providers and CapMetro regarding parts and inventory needs.
  • Research and establish best practices for computer-aided inventory management.
  • Recommend changes to policies and procedures to improve operational performance.
  • Ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) for staff are achieved.
  • Maintain up-to-date techniques for inventory control to improve efficiency.
  • Support efforts to resolve customer concerns regarding inventory shortages.
  • Provide support and resources to the Bikeshare Service related to parts and inventory.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with safety policies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Nine years of progressively responsible experience in parts acquisition or inventory control, specifically with vehicle parts.
  • Two years of supervisory experience in vehicle maintenance or parts and inventory staff.
  • Experience with computerized inventory control systems and transit vehicle parts.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of materials control and applicable computer systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technical knowledge of vendors, service contractors, manufacturers, and carriers in the vehicle parts industry.
