About the position

The Manager, Payroll Systems & Process Improvements at Daiichi Sankyo is responsible for overseeing comprehensive payroll management with a strong emphasis on systems and process enhancements. This role requires a blend of payroll expertise, leadership, and innovative thinking to streamline payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance. The manager will act as the primary contact for payroll integration activities and will lead initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness in payroll processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead major components of the US Biweekly and Canadian Monthly Payroll, focusing on innovative practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintain high standards in payroll record management by introducing advanced systems and practices.
  • Assume leadership of the department in the absence of the Payroll Head, managing complete payroll operations for both bi-weekly and annual cycles.
  • Tackle complex payroll issues with an innovative mindset, redesigning processes to prevent future challenges.
  • Actively manage and revamp monthly and quarterly payroll responsibilities, implementing new strategies for improvement.
  • Ensure payroll processing is accurate and timely while seeking technological advancements for efficiency.
  • Oversee tax reporting and compliance, introducing new methods to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with departments for accurate year-end reporting and W2 preparation, introducing improvements in these processes.
  • Manage relationships with HR third-party vendors to leverage technological solutions for payroll management.
  • Conduct in-depth audits of payroll data, collaborating with HR and IT to identify areas for system improvements.
  • Manage and audit retirement plan contributions, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Create and provide training on advanced payroll systems to teammates and new hires.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required or 10+ years of relevant Payroll experience in lieu of degree required.
  • 5+ years of Payroll experience required.
  • People leadership skills preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to recommend and lead process improvement and innovation initiatives preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)-APA preferred.
