About the position

The Manager, People & Organization at Chanel is responsible for leading core Human Resources processes within Saks Fifth Ave in New York. This role serves as a key business partner to the Boutique Leadership Team (BLT), focusing on employee engagement, talent development, performance management, recruitment, and employee relations. The ideal candidate will balance hands-on and strategic responsibilities, leveraging their experience to foster an inclusive culture and drive performance through effective people strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of core Human Resources processes within Saks Fifth Ave.
  • Identify opportunities for specific people strategies in collaboration with the BLT.
  • Focus on creating an inclusive culture that nurtures personal growth and collective progress.
  • Conduct onboarding and integration of new team members in partnership with the BLT and Education Team.
  • Conduct exit interviews and utilize findings for decision-making within the Boutique.
  • Support career discussions and highlight developmental needs with team members.
  • Provide input on organizational structure, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Guide the annual compensation and performance review process for the Boutique.
  • Analyze trends and utilize insights for decision-making related to P&O priorities.
  • Proactively identify opportunity areas and performance gaps in collaboration with the BLT.
  • Support performance management through coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions.
  • Forecast hiring needs and lead full cycle recruitment for management-level positions.
  • Drive internal mobility and participate in monthly mobility calls with other managers.
  • Run vacancy reports and maintain accurate data for recruitment.
  • Create and implement sourcing strategies to build an active pipeline.
  • Lead recruitment events and logistics for mass hiring.
  • Upskill hiring managers and interview panels on best practices and trainings.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues through thorough investigations.
  • Consult with internal teams to ensure consistency in handling employee relations issues.
  • Build knowledge of employment best practices and partner with legal and operational teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of core HR (HR Generalist) experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • Prior HR experience within a Retail/Wholesale environment preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to build relationships and influence others.
  • Experience in employee relations and conflict resolution.
  • Strong detail orientation and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Comfort with HRIS systems (such as Workday) and basic analysis in Excel.

  • Experience in a luxury retail environment.
  • Knowledge of diversity and inclusion best practices.
  • Familiarity with performance management systems.
