About the position

The Manager will providing highly detailed analyses to the team's internal clients. The Manager is expected to participate in idea generation for the firm's analytical needs. Analysis types include, but are not limited to, rate of return calculations, return attribution, risk analytics, competitive analysis and performance composite construction, analysis & reporting. The Manager will also be responsible for providing performance measurement analytics, calculations, and ensuring the integrity of performance data that is available to the firm, as well as proactively participate in the enhancement of workflows and processes to support greater efficiency. The Manager will also oversee a small team.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Investment Teams, Marketing, Client Service, Product Development, Portfolio Specialist, and Distribution teams by providing high-quality and relevant performance and analytics
  • Participate in idea generation and apply the research done in support of the above groups to create thought pieces and white papers for the firm
  • Use portfolio and performance analytics and attribution to provide high level analysis to the firm
  • Oversight of the centralized source of performance and analytics data for the Firm
  • Owner and subject matter expert of FactSet data; troubleshoot internal FactSet issues
  • Create and update analytical models to aggregate and present quantitative data to the firm
  • Create and analyze hypothetical portfolios
  • Analyze trends in market indices, fund universes and internal portfolios
  • Lead the team from both a day-to-day and strategic perspective - Provide guidance and training to develop staff. Responsible for the hiring, evaluation, mentoring and coaching of team members
  • Calculate investment performance using data industry standards (GIPS)
  • Track and confirm accurate account and composite performance reports
  • Validate and run the accuracy of the Benchmark index data
  • Ensure accuracy of account assignments and terminations in composites
  • Maintain a high level of understanding of the needs, improvements and concerns of our clients
  • Review and audit data within deadlines to ensure accuracy with reporting needs
  • Ensure performance metrics/services meet required standards for industry/client needs
  • Participate in various committees/councils across the firm

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Finance/Economics/Accounting
  • 10+ years of industry experience, including at least years of performance related experience and at least three years of management experience
  • CFA Charterholder/MBA or working towards the designation strongly desired
  • Strong quantitative ability
  • Strong leadership, people management and team development skills necessary to lead a group of direct reports. Proven success in building and developing team members, effectively providing feedback and coaching.
  • Experience with the calculation and measurement of performance and attribution
  • Experience with portfolio and security level analytics
  • Ability to present complex data to the front, middle and back office
  • Ability to work and analyze large data sets
  • Strong ability to think outside of the box
  • Knowledge of the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) and the verification process
  • Solid understanding of the investment management business
  • Sound understanding of equity and fixed income securities
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and client service skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and results orientation
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude

  • Portfolio accounting experience Expertise in MS Excel and ability to learn new systems
