About the position

The Manager of Pharmacy - Inventory and Logistics is responsible for overseeing the medication use process and clinical pharmacy services within their assigned area. This role includes supervising staff, ensuring quality pharmaceutical care, and maintaining best practice standards in clinical care. The manager will also engage in communication with healthcare professionals and patients regarding medication therapy management, while addressing employee and patient issues as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all pharmacist duties and responsibilities for their practice area.
  • Accountable for ensuring that ‘best practice' standards of clinical care are maintained, patient satisfaction is optimized, and an efficient medication use process and workflow is achieved.
  • Evaluate the department's current pharmacy practice and make recommendations.
  • Oversee and plan for the development of new programs based on need and opportunity.
  • Address and resolve employee and patient issues, seeking advice from Human Resource or departmental leadership when necessary.
  • Perform all performance management activities for assigned staff.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels, skill mix, and assignments to support appropriate patient care provision.
  • Responsible for staff recruitment and hiring processes in assigned area.
  • Maintain standards, clinical activities, operational activities, and performance metrics that meet clinical, operational, and market needs.
  • Identify and analyze changes in medication utilization and costs, including factors driving change trends.
  • Work with pharmacists, physicians, and administrative partners to develop processes or programs to address identified issues with medication utilization.
  • Contribute to the development of evidence-based, cost containment, and cost-saving protocols and therapies.
  • Provide input into staffing and financial budgets for assigned areas.
  • Communicate and ensure the implementation of activities and tools that educate and focus staff on key performance indicators.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of operational contingency plans in concert with the department leadership team as financial or other conditions warrant.
  • Ensure compliance of assigned areas and services with accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Develop, revise, audit, and maintain department policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (Required)
  • Minimum of 1 year of Managerial/Supervisory experience (Required)
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience (Required)
  • Licensed Pharmacist in Pennsylvania (Required)
