About the position

The Manager of MN Physician Compensation plays a crucial role in supporting the Director in overseeing the compensation review and reconciliation process across all medical groups, including those under HHP. This position is responsible for maintaining and making recommendations related to physician compensation plans, ensuring that they align with fair market value and comply with company policies, as well as state and federal regulations. The Manager provides leadership and expertise on physician compensation matters, which is essential for the planning, development, and execution of specific pay practices. In this role, the Manager will supervise the processing of all payroll-related functions for physicians affiliated with the Cedars-Sinai Medical Care Foundation. This includes managing and mentoring staff in data analysis and the implementation of physician compensation and payroll processes. The Manager will assist in developing and evaluating physician compensation strategies and models that align with the organization’s financial objectives while incentivizing physician efficiency and performance. The Manager will work closely with executive management, legal counsel, and human resources to develop new agreements and revise existing ones as necessary. They may also serve as a representative on compensation committees, providing support and mentorship. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive database of all existing agreements and communicating any changes that may have financial or budgetary impacts. This role also involves handling payments to contracted physicians as outlined in their individual contracts and managing monthly chargebacks related to various duties performed by employed physicians. Furthermore, the Manager will perform financial modeling, conduct internal valuations, and acquire external valuations for each agreement to ensure compliance with policies and regulatory requirements. They will serve as a communication liaison with various departments, including Medical Network Leadership, Business Development, Recruiting, and Finance, ensuring that compensation programs remain competitive and are modified as needed based on market criteria and changes in business strategy. The Manager will also coordinate audits of salary changes within each specialty to ensure adherence to established guidelines and procedures, and oversee the Physician Payroll process, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and ordinances.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and evaluation of physician compensation strategies and models that align with financial and organizational objectives.
  • Supervise the implementation of physician compensation plans.
  • Work with executive management, legal counsel, and human resources to develop new agreements and revise existing agreements as needed.
  • Serve as a representative on compensation committees to provide support and mentorship.
  • Maintain the database of all existing agreements and communicate changes with financial or budgetary impact.

  • Manage monthly chargebacks related to medical director, administrative, and other duties performed by employed physicians.
  • Perform financial modeling, conduct internal valuations, and acquire external valuations for agreements to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Serve as a communication liaison with Medical Network Leadership, Business Development, Recruiting, and Finance departments.
  • Manage scheduled changes to compensation as indicated in Employment Agreements.
  • Work closely with physician recruitment and leadership to ensure compensation programs are market competitive.
  • Coordinate audits of salary changes within each specialty to ensure conformance with established guidelines and procedures.
  • Manage the Physician Payroll process, including oversight of ADP and other third-party HR/Payroll vendors.
  • Ensure staff maintains and updates HR/Payroll records, processes payrolls, and prepares year-end adjustments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience in Healthcare Finance and physician compensation.
