About the position

The Manager of Plant Engineering at Ball Corporation is responsible for leading the plant engineering function, ensuring a safe work environment, and overseeing engineering projects and compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This role involves managing budgets, coordinating with group engineering, and maintaining effective communication with various departments to ensure efficient operations within the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment by correcting unsafe acts/conditions and facilitating safety meetings.
  • Support the development and implementation of the food safety system.
  • Direct and coordinate plant engineering activities and interface with the group office.
  • Establish and monitor plant tooling control and change control systems.
  • Estimate and prepare budgets and AFEs for plant projects.
  • Ensure constant communication with group engineering regarding new developments.
  • Establish a program for control of M & R and tooling inventories.
  • Direct necessary contact with state and local agencies regarding plant management issues.
  • Manage projects related to equipment and building modifications or repairs.
  • Assist the plant environmental manager to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor utility costs and implement conservation methods.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the facility for safety and housekeeping.
  • Engage in efforts to minimize losses in raw materials and utilities.
  • Prepare bid packages, negotiate contracts, and supervise contractor/vendor work.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department and company.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electronic, Electrical) or relevant industry experience preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in maintenance/engineering in an industrial setting.
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience; 3+ years preferred.
  • Ability to apply diverse evaluation and modification of standard engineering techniques.
  • Must handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Ability to negotiate with contractors for maintenance.

  • Experience in food safety systems.
  • Knowledge of environmental management requirements.
