About the position

As a key member of the Operations Leadership Team, the Plant HR Manager will provide sound advice and coaching to managers and employees on all HR-related areas that affect the plant. They will be responsible for building effective relationships with operational departments to understand their business goals and to proactively identify and implement solutions that align with organizational strategies. They will drive HR practices and objectives that will foster an employee-oriented, performance-driven culture with an emphasis on empowerment, quality, productivity, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a collaborative workforce. The Human Resources Manager is responsible for carrying out processes and reporting on metrics that support the achievement of the organization's business goals. The HR Manager also maintains a close working relationship with the Plant Manager in order to coordinate the implementation of people-related services, policies, and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead functional areas of HR such as compensation, employee relations, employment law, issue resolution, training and development and performance management.
  • Interpret and communicate HR policies and guidelines to management and employees.
  • Assist in the annual wage and salary review process.
  • Provide direction on ADA, FMLA, Worker's Compensation, employee-related legal matters, affirmative action and recruitment and selection of employees.
  • Partner with the plant leadership team and provide coaching and direction in policy administration and employee issues.
  • Administer benefit enrollments and claims processing and serve as site point of contact on all benefits related issues.
  • Responsible for managing the recruitment and hiring process.
  • Manage hourly employee files and medical files in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Act in a confidential capacity handling external and internal inquiries from the public, employees, & departments.
  • Manage drug screening for new hires and random drug screening for plant employees including management of vendor relationships.
  • Manage new hire orientation program.
  • Coordinate open enrollment process each year for benefits.
  • Responsible for managing employee information in company HRIS and payroll system.
  • Schedule annual training.
  • Awareness and support of safety initiatives.
  • Manage and track I-9 forms.
  • Advise payroll administrator of all employee status changes (new hires, leaves, terminations, address changes, benefit changes, etc.); manage STD and LTD process.
  • Maintain discipline and attendance records.
  • Assist Finance as required.
  • Support in providing direction and guidance to Facility Safety Coordinator.
  • Regularly participate in management meetings.
  • Maintain relationships and support local community groups and events.
  • Serve as a backup to payroll processing as needed, ensuring timely and accurate completion of payroll-related tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in HR or related field required; PHR/SPHR Preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 -7 years of HR Generalist experience.
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills.
  • Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Power Point and an HRIS system.
  • In-depth understanding of government regulations in all areas of Human Resources.
  • Experience with Workers Compensation, FMLA, and ADA.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Experience with a variety of benefit programs and their administration.
  • Strong project management skills.
